Here is my sketching paintbox. My mum bought me this little Winsor & Newton tin half pan box in 1979 and I love it. The colour selection comes from one of my favourite landscape artists Rowland Hilder OBE (1905–1993). He suggests you can paint pretty much any colour present in the landscape from mixing various ratios of these six colours [Cadmuim Lemon, Raw Sienna, Lamp Black, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Winsor Blue] and I have to say I've found him right. I will write a post on Rowland Hilder when time will allow, because he was a brilliant artist who I feel has somewhat been neglected.
